In-house research of personalised logo fleece jackets

We investigated the sales we made over the last 5 years to see what personalised corporate clothing fleece jackets customer bought and where possible why. Because of the pile, fleece fabric does not print well so all our sales have been embroidered with their company logo or marketing message. Sometimes the garments are co-branded which means they have two embroidered logos; the customer’s logo and a partner firm they are working with on a project or perhaps the manufacturer of the most popular brand they sell.

What is clear from the research is that unisex fleece jackets outsell male/female styes two to one. There is a wider range of colours and sizes with unisex fleece jackets (as there is with softshell jackets) and stock holding is generally better.

Why did customers buy these fleece jackets

Some of our customers are experienced procurement managers, some have been tasked with the job of finding some branded fleeces. Spealing to our customers for this research, the primary considerations our customers made were colour, sizes, price, durability, warmth, comfort, in-stock and confidence this style will be around when they need to re-order.

• Colour: the first consideration is usually colour because it needs to fit in with the company’s branding scheme. Or a colour won’t show-up the dirt too much if the users work in a dirty environment.


• Sizes: Small to XXL are the standard size options for most workwear garments. However, manufactures have realised they need to offer a wider range of sizes, so XS to 4XL is common with some going as far as 7XL. Not always available in all colours, usually the basics, Black, Navy, Grey and Bottle Green plus some other colours such as Burgundy, Royal Blue and Red from some brands.


• Price: Always important, but not as important as you might assume. Company buyers told us the price was only one factor when buying staff uniform.


• Durability: This featured high on the list of buying considerations because replacing staff uniform is often scheduled at specific times throughout the financial year, so the workwear needs to last.


• Warmth: Fleeces are a garment that will typically be worn inside and outside. So, they must be warm when worn outside and the fabric weight GSM (grams per square meter) is a method to understand how they will perform outside or in cold indoor environments. Microfleece is usually a lighter weight fabric so less warm.


• Comfort: Fleece fabric is as soft-feel 100% polyester fabric. So, the main difference is the pile. Micro fleece is a shorter pile and so reduced pilling. One isn’t better than the other, its personal preference.


• Stock: Customers want to know the fleece jackets are in stock when they want to order and re-order them (that’s fair). Our online catalogue lists every style, the stock we hold per colour and size. And if out of stock we will contact the manufacturer to find out when the next delivery is due.

The prices are based on a breast size logo up to 5000 stitches (this may not mean much to you, it’s the industry standard measure) but we can explain in more detail if required.
